Along came a thunderstorm

04:35:     zzzz. Peal of thunder, eyes open, wait for another flash...storm 9 elephants away

04:40:     flash of lightning, peal of thunder - 2 elephants away. torrential rain

04:42:     scamper downstairs full of excitement

04:45:     cup of tea.  Dance barefoot in the rain clutching cuppa and giggling - lots of thunder.

05:30:     mug filling with rain water, kettle back on

05:40:     brain kicks in, shower, get dressed

06:12:     cup of coffee, watch more lightning and giggle at thunder rattling the house

06:45ish: work, work, work...

I do love a good storm!  The weather gods are back in my good books for sending it.  Fresh air arrives filled with the scent of damp grass and pollen.

Now that the weather has broken a little I can work!  Touching wool isn't a nightmare and my brain is less addled than of late.  Still a little addled mind, it's over 16 degrees after all.  With the marginally cooler temperature I got so much done.  The craft room looks like the foxes have been in there looking for chickens and my desk is looking delightfully cluttered - this is a very good sign.  I function best in chaos and debris.

A full day of constant work!  No slumping limp in my chair fanning my face with sheets of crumpled up mistakes, or gazing out of the window with a blank, slack-jawed expression wishing for snow, or fighting with the cat for kitchen floor rights where we both want to lie down where its cool.

I also managed to untangle the sock yarn that got in a devilish tangle that went from bad to worse last week.  Lovely blue face Leicester yarn in lovely colours.  I'm planning what I'm going to do with it and have settled on knitting something.  Not sure what though.

After a successful day, I decided to relax and dither with some art journalling.  Just did a bit of shading and some spiky bits with a black pen.  I've been working on these pages for what seems like an age.  One day I might be in danger of getting a page done.

Then I found this shawl that I started knitting at least six months ago.  I'd completely forgotten about it!  I made the pattern up as I went along so now need to work out what I was doing.

Retracing my creative steps from a six month back with no written record is not as easy as I thought it would be.  Who knows what I was thinking at the time although I'd bet 10 whole £s I was away with the fairies and functioning on autopilot.  Which is where I'm heading now.

Book deadline #1: 7 big sleeps
Percentage of work completed: 48% (don't panic)
