I've just finished another granny blanket. This one will cover a single bed (twin bed in the US) and is in lovely bright colours and white.
Its for sale in my Folksy shop
I've almost finished a double sized granny blanket for commission too. Busy, busy, busy :)

Invisible Seam (Reverse Mattress Stitch) - Joining Crochet Squares
I've been meaning to share some of my joining methods for ages. I shall start with my Invisible Seam which joins squares flatly (no big ridges at the front or back) and is a nice sturdy join. It's almost the same as the Mattress Stitch but is worked with the wrong sides facing and through the two back loops of each stitch.
I've used a contrasting yarn for the photographs so that you can see what's going on and how the sewing disappears.
Begin with wrong sides facing and join yarn in the corner of each square. Personally I use a figure of eight, leaving a long tail which I weave in later, but you can get the yarn started in whichever way you prefer.
Step 1:
Take needle through the two back loops of the first stitch of the left square, moving left to right...
Step 2:
Insert needle through the two back loops of the opposite stitch on the right square, moving right to left...
Repeat these two steps in the next few stitches and then pull the yarn to tighten the seam (this is when the yarn will disappear!!!)...
Continue Step 1 and Step 2 and remember to tighten the yarn every few stitches until the squares are joined and end yarn as you would normally.
This method works really, really well for joining different coloured squares together like the Babette Blanket and you don't have to be too concerned what colour you use to join as long as its fairly neutral.
Hope this makes enough sense to help some folks!

Hearts Fingerless Gloves - Knitting Pattern
Yay! I've finished my latest pattern. This time it's a knitting pattern for fingerless gloves. I know it's supposed to be the middle of summer, but some of the leaves outside are turning so Autumn is on the way.
The pattern is for sale in my Ravelry Store for £1.00. Hope you enjoy it :)

Forest Flower Square - Crochet Pattern
I sat on the bench in the rain this morning reading some doleful poetry and sipping my cup of tea. There I sat, getting dripped on despite the patched-together-with-bits-and-bobs awning above me, when inspiration struck. I made a beeline for the Big Wool Stash and grabbed some colours and a hook. This is what I came up with. I think the colour choice was influenced heavily by the poems I was struggling through, a bit dull and dreary :)
I think this would be gorgeous in bright sunny colours. When I get a chance I'll rustle some up.
The pattern is for sale in my Ravelry store as a PDF for £1.50. Payment is by Paypal and you don't need to be a member of Ravelry (but I recommend you join - it's a great site!).
I would never have guessed that reading miserable poetry can trigger design inspiration!
Hope you enjoy the pattern
